Palindrone

BIO:

Fanatic collector and follower of the ‘core, I’ve found I always had an interest in electronic music above other forms but it was in the Hardcore genre that I found what it was that I was looking for.  As Mark N put it, the sheer “fuck-off-ness” of the music is undeniable and it is perhaps this quality that finds me writing this and you reading it.  At present I’m comparatively new to the scene, mostly due to my age, but I strongly believe that although I and others like me may have missed the glorious ‘90s underground, we are responsible for continuing and respecting the spirit of that time.  Admittedly, the sound may have evolved in all the ways that culture is prone to do with the advent of new technology, but the attitude remains forever.  This is what it means to say “Hardcore Will Never Die”.

HAS PLAYED AT:

Triple Z Brain Banana 2008, Hammered V1.0,  Bloody Sunday

HAS MIXED ALONGSIDE ARTISTS SUCH AS:

Mark N, Black Lung, The Nam Shub of Enki and HCM's finest.

STYLE OF MUSIC:

Predominately breakbeat influenced Hardcore of the fast, dark, psychotic and noisy variety, muddled with Dark Drum & Bass, '90s Techstep, Breakcore (sans bullshit Pop samples), IDM, Old Skool Industrial Hardcore and Classic Speedcore.  I'm a strong believer in providing a range of music styles whilst maintaining an energetic (170-250BPM) vibe centered on rhythmic noise and a hint of impending doom.  Personally, I consider the 1994-2004 period best captured this spirit and as such I endeavor to provide a balance between new and old tracks of this form whilst always respecting the tradition of the genre by playing vinyl.  Turn on, tune in and drop out.

FAVOURITE PRODUCERS AND WHY:

The DJ Producer, Technical Itch, The Outside Agency, Noize Creator and Venetian Snares are all fixtures in my top 5.  They all have at one point or continue to embody the very spirit behind the sound I’ve outlined above.  Complexity, speed, energy, noise and darkness…

FAVOURITE LABELS:

Killing Sheep Records, Deathchant, Rebelscum, Strike Records, Bloody Fist Records, No U-Turn, Epileptik, Rage Records, Ninja Columbo, Addict Records, Genosha One Seven Five, Enzyme Records, Ruffneck Records, Supreme Intelligence, Planet Mu, Moving Shadow…

FAVOURITE EVENTS:

Thrillseeka 5, Thrillseeka 666, Broken Noises I & II, Autolysis III, Chaos AD II and The DJ Producer at Sunday Bloody Sunday (in Sydney) were all unforgettable nights that I am lucky to have experienced.

FAVOURITE MOMENTS:

From a purely musical perspective The DJ Producer’s set in Sydney is certainly a highlight but looking more broadly at the scene in general, meeting so many like-minded individuals in Brisbane and beyond from all walks of life, all supporting the music in their own way, means a favourite moment happens every time I turn up to an event.

WHAT DOES PALINDRONE HAVE PLANNED FOR US IN THE FUTURE?:

Primarily, I plan to continue spreading and supporting the word and sound of underground electronic music to Brisbane and beyond as a punter, DJ and, hopefully, future promoter.  In addition to this, collaborations with fellow electronic dissidents, especially my close compatriots Inspector Wrecks and Metal MC, are on the books.  As a producer I plan to increasingly incorporate my own music into my sets with the eventual goal of an entirely live performance.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:

Fortunately, Brisbane’s Hardcore scene is large enough to attract a diverse and interesting group of followers whilst being small enough to largely avoid the politics associated with popular culture.  Although the content of our music may suggest otherwise, we’re a friendly bunch that are always keen to meet someone whom shares or wishes to discuss our musical interests.  Grab a beer and say hi… just not while we’re mixing!
